In the movie It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Tyler Fitzgerald (Jim Backus) downs three cocktails while piloting his airplane. Leaving his seat to mix a fourth, he puts Benjy (Buddy Hackett) in charge of flying the plane. Panicked, Benjy asks "What if something happens?" to which Mr. Fitzgerald replies, "What could happen to an Old Fashioned?"
Old Fashioned:
Muddle a teaspoon of sugar in a splash of water and 2 dashes of bitters.
Add ice and 2 fingers of Bourbon.
Top with a maraschino cherry.

This is heartbreaking. I'll have an old-fashioned in honor of your dad. I'm sorry it's a little late, and I'm sorrier for your loss.
I don't even want to tell you how familiar I am with the term "superbug." My mom, the gal going through chemo, during her second bout of breast cancer, told me it was the true reason most were receiving "vencomyacin" - spelling not known - which she received in the hospital a week ago when she had an adverse reaction to one of the chemo drugs. She has two sessions left, and I can only hope these go better. I'm truly sorry to hear John passed, but I hope it brings healing to your family. I miss him already. Love from Jen/Pennifer@aol.com
